Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,Till she cry "Lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover,I must have you!"--THOMAS PARKE D'INVILLIERS那就戴顶金帽子,如果能打动她的心肠;如果你能跳得高,就为她也跳一跳,跳到她高呼:“情郎,戴金帽、跳得高的情郎,我一定得把你要!” Whenever you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had. 2.A sense of the fundamental decencies is parceled out unequally at birth. 3.Conduct may be founded on the hard rock or the wet marshes, but after a certain point I don't care what it's founded on. 4.Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets,.and I was him too, looking up and wondering. It understood you just so far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself.and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.
I wanted to get out and walk southward toward the park through the soft twilight, but each time I tried to go I became entangled in some wild, strident argument which pulled me back, as if with ropes, into my chair. Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets, and I was him too, looking up and wondering. I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.

Its vanished trees, the trees that had made way for Gatsby's house, had once pandered in whispers to the last and greatest of all human dreams; for a transitory enchanted moment man must have held his breath in the presence of this continent, compelled into an aesthetic contemplation he neither understood nor desired, face to face for the last time in history with something commensurate to his capacity for wonder.
