Traditional Chinese Food
China is very famous for its food in the world. There are many kinds of traditional food in China. They're Cantonese food, Sichuan food, Shanghai food, Hunan food and so on. Generally speaking, Cantonese food is a bit light, Sichuan food is very hot, Shanghai food is rather oily, and Hunan dishes are very spicy, having a strong and hot taste. Mapo Beancurd, steamed fish sweet and sour pork ribs, spring roll and many Chinese dishes are very delicious. In the north of China, people eat a lot of noodles and dumplings. In the south of China, people eat a lot of rice and seafood. Chinese food is good in color, flavor and taste. So I like it very much.
英语作文:when we eat in china
Welcome to China, we'll invite you to eat the real Chinese food-dumplings.
In China, there are many
different kinds of food. Some of them are very popular. The real Chinese
food is dumplings. Now let's talk
about them, OK?
Everyone in China likes dumplings very much, and there are many different
kinds of dumplings. Some have
meat and vegetables in them; others have sugar, eggs and so on. I like
dumplings with vegetables and pork better
than any other kind.
Usually people make dumplings at home. If you have no time to make them,
you can buy them from any
supermarket. Then you take them home and eat them with vinegar. The Spring
Festival is very important in
China. When it comes, we make dumplings; usually we put a coin in a
dumpling. If one eats the dumpling with
the coin in it, he or she will be lucky in the year.
In the old days, people couldn't often eat dumplings because they were very
poor. Now our country is
becoming stronger and stronger, and our people are richer and richer. We
can eat them very often.
Now tell me, do you like dumplings? What kind of dumplings do you like?
And to our surprise, many foreigners have problems making dumplings, so
they go to Chinese restaurants
to eat dumplings, not make at home. They also like eating dumplings.

Although there is no English-language menu, there are photos of the more popular dishes and the waitstaff can help you order. A new chef will start at the end of the month, and the new menu is expected to include xiaochi (snacks).

By Julie Masis, Correspondent / September 7, 2010 Beijing, China • A local, slice-of-life (真实的)story from a Monitor correspondent. China has come a long way from socialism: In addition to American chain restaurants like KFC, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, and Starbucks, Chinese fast-food chain restaurants have sprouted up 发芽 everywhere in China. The Chinese chains have picked up on the American concept of inexpensive, standardized food items served in disposable一次性的 paper and plastic as quickly as you can order them. China has also adapted the fast-food approach to its own cuisine. Chinese chains offer dumplings, noodle soup, 历史老照片不能说的秘密慈禧军阀明末清初文革晚清fried rice, and milk tea – in addition to standard American fast-food burgers and sodas. But perhaps the biggest attraction here is the restaurants’ clean tables and bathrooms, not something you will find in other cheap eateries in China. Some of the most popular Chinese chains are Mr. Lee’s (beef noodle soup, dumplings, and wantons are specialities); Kungfu, a 10-year-old chain which, according to its corporate website, now has more than 300 restaurants nationwide; Yonghe King, founded in Shanghai in 1995, which also specializes in noodles; and East Dawning, owned by Yum! Brands, the company that also owns KFC here.
There're too many things that I want to put in my answer, but the most important thing that I want to tell you all is ---- GOOD / HIGH CLASS AUTHENTIC CHINESE RESTAURANT DO NOT PUT MSG IN THEIR FOOD, they use premium grade ingredients and they prepare their stocks everyday!
My dad is a good cook, my sister and I also can cook, we never put msg in our food and we buy fresh vegetables & seafood daily in the market, our meals contain lot of vegetables + fish and less meat (my family eat chicken, fresh water fish and seafood, no beef nor mutton). When we go to restaurant to have Cantonese food, the steamed fish - garoupa or lobster were killed soon after we picked from the tank.
China is a big country (as big as USA) and has the biggest population, therefore, Chinese from different regions have different cooking ways, styles & tastes. For example, Sichuan cuisine is very spicy while Cantonese cuisine isn't spicy at all. People in the north eat wheat noodles or steamed buns while people from the south eat rice or rice noodles.
Chinese food is different from Western food by the way we prepare food before cooking, Chinese cut the ingredients in bite size then stir fry or steam the ingredients in short time while westerners cook the ingredients in big pieces and cut the food on their plates with knives and forks.
There are some ingredients or seasonings in Chinese cuisine that Western cuicine seldom use, like jelly fish, sea cucumbers, shark's fins, fish maws, bird's nest, thousand years eggs, bean curds (tofu), oyster sauce, black bean sauce, salty shrimp paste, soy sauce, ... etc. On the other hand, Western cooking adds herbs like rosemary, dill, sage, oregano, thyme, tarragon.. etc, in their food while seldom you would find these herbs in Chinese food. Chinese add ginger, spring onions, mints, corianders, white pepper ..., you hardly can find any traditional Chinese food contains cheese, butter, cream or milk.
Customs on eating
Food between China and Western countries are totally different styles. China has 5000 years history. We probably spend half of time on food. Chinese people choice food very carefully. They only use fresh material to make food. For example they only eat fresh fish. Chinese have a lot of ideas and techniques for cooking. We can cook a chicken in over ten ways. That’s why Chinese food is so popular in the world. Western country like English or American, they don’t have fresh food because they buy their food from supermarket which only sells stored materials. Western people would also prefer fast food like burgers and chips. They are unhealthy to human body. Western people do not have many skills for cooking, mostly they only boil, steam and bake the food. By the way, western people are very good at making desert and chocolate. They can make very good cake and chocolate. They are very sweet but it’s sort of food which make you become fat quickly.
In china if you invite people for meal, the person who invited other people would pay for the meal but it’s not the way in Western country. In western country people will think you only invited me but it’s not your responsibility to pay for me. I can afford it. They won’t be happy if you pay for them. People in China would always put dishes into customer’s plate to show their hospitality, but they will think it’s not healthy because your chopsticks have been used by you. In western coountry like America not England, people will always give tips to waiter after they finished meal in a restaurant. If you don’t they will not be happy because tips are one of their major income. In china this only happen in some top restaurants and hotels in large international cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Western people will also think you are rude if you make sound during the meal. Western people do not hold their bowl up even when they have a bowl of soup.
There is also a huge difference between Chinese and Western people. Chinese people use chopsticks and western people use fork and knife. Usually people who use fork and knife will use fork to hold the meat and cut it by knife and use fork to help to get that piece of meat into mouse. Chinese just use chopstick to pick things and pass it into your mouse.
Chinese people only have three meals during a day. But western people will have more, they have afternoon tea. Usually they would have fruits, homemade cake, tea (black tea) or biscuit with cheese. If you are a housewife and have a lot of time, you may have morning tea as well.

Fast food is becoimg more and more popular in China, especially among children and teenagers.Today,it's cretainly difficult to think of any other single thing that representthe fast pace of modern society as powerfully as fast food. There are several reasons for its popularity.Firstly,it is very convenient and saves a lot of time. The trends of modern society seem to all point to one ultimate goal-saving time, and fast food well serves this purpose. You just go into a fast food restaurant, order you food, and your food is ready in no time. You can either eat it there or take it away.Secondly, its popularity is also attributed to the clean and comfortable environment of fast food restaurants, the excellent service, and the guaranteed quality of food.As far as I am concerned,on the one hand,in terms of nutrition, fast food is far from satisfactory. It usually destroy a balanced diet and is low in nutrional value. On the other hand, although cooking at home is time-consuming and the following washing-up tiresome,it offer healthy and delicious meals your body like and needs.Fast food is only a good choice when you are in hurry and it once in a while.
