我们知道ETS有一个e-rater�0�3 system,广泛应用于比如GRE或者Toefl的写作评分中(点此了解e-rater详情)。当然电脑评分只能是一种辅助,最终还是要靠human raters来确定分数。虽然ETS从来没有透露过e-rater�0�3是怎么运作的(博主几年前曾在ETS官网上下载过一篇关于E-rater的研究论文,有兴趣的业内专业人士可以点击这里阅读),但有一点我们可以肯定,就是它一定是有能力去通过对比数据库中的考生作文,很快地“侦测”到哪两篇或者哪几篇文章具有太多的雷同之处,然后对分数进行处理。但不论是人工还是电脑,到底怎么掌握这个度,确实就不好说了,ETS也不可能公开关于此的规则。所以有些同学就特别紧张,怕看了范文后,因为别人也在看,会不会写出来的一样后被判雷同?博主认为大家不用过于担心。首先,思路方面,即使雷同也没关系。毕竟同一个题目,想出的理由甚至例子都一样是很正常的。其次,在一篇文章里有相似甚至相同的语言表达也不足为怪,只要不是大段的照抄,“触发”了系统“报警”,应该都没问题。那有同学问了,什么才叫“大段的照抄”呢?这个问题很难量化,但我想只要考生把范文作为“参考”,而不是“背诵”的材料,就不会有问题。换句话说,范文的思路、论证方式、文章结构、段落布局、关键词句的搭配组合、实用精彩的句型等,都是可以背也可以套用的。但不要逐字逐句逐段地去背,指望考试的时候原封不动的默写出来,这样一来万一另一个和你同时考试的同学也这么做了,就真的有雷同的风险了;二来,背别人写的文章肯定是费时费力。考试的时候为了回忆文章内容,反而减缓了写作的速度,而且有可能因为背了这句忘了那句,写出的文章变得支离破碎失去连贯。最后,避免雷同的最有效办法之一就是paraphrase(改写),这也是美国教育体系中强调的一种技能,特别是在写论文时,为了避免plagiarism(剽窃抄袭),一定要学会paraphrase,就是用自己的语言来表达相同的意思,可以借鉴原文的内容,但要会用各种方法进行改写,达到“神似形不似”的境界。用好paraphrase完全可以把别人的文章改写成独一无二的属于自己的版本,彻底避免“雷同”风险。
