As the south gate of Hangzhou city, Xiaoshan, on the south bank of the Qiantang River is located at the south part of most developed Yangtze River Delta. It Covers an area of 1,420 square kilometers inhabited by a population of 1.17 million. In 2nd century BC, it was originally built as a county and then upgraded into a city in 1998. In 2001, it had been elected as a new administrative district of the capital city Hangzhou. Enjoying the convenient communication,the Xiaoshan International Airport is among the country's top ten airports. Xiaoshan's connectivity is enhanced by convenient railways and expressways running through the district as well as the nearby Shanghai and Ningbo port (180 km and 150 km respectively).
Xiaoshan is pooled with developed economy, social progress, prosperous businesses, well-functioned government and harmonious living. Xiaoshan is also a city bustling with business. Since 2001 Xiaoshan’s overall economic strength ranks the seventh among one hundred most-developed counties nationally, and the first in Zhejiang Province. Xiaoshan is also one of investors' choice hubs, recording the same volume of trade as Taiwan in terms of electrical machinery & electronics for two consecutive years. Plus, in 2004, the value of industrial output totaled 160 billion yuan (or 20 billion US dollars), occupying the third among all most-developed counties (cities and districts) in the country.
Currently, Xiaosan lies in an important plateau of development either in its self-promotion or the strategic transition of economy, city and society. For this purpose, efforts will be made to build a rich harmonious and modern district. Through quick maneuverable working, the city would further consolidate its leading role no matter in Hangzhou city, Zhejiang Province or even China.

General Situation of Xiaoshan
Xiaoshan,located on the southeast coast of China,is the biggest district of Hangzhou,which is the provincial capital of Zhejiang province.It covers total area of 1420 square kilometers and has a population of 1.18 million.Xiaoshan is one of the regions with the most developed private economy in China.Main economic indices of Xiaoshan have ranked the first in Zhejiang Province for consecutive years and the comprehensive strength has ranked seventh in National Top 100 Counties(Cities,Districts)for five successive years.In 2005,the GDP of Xiaoshan amounted to RMB 58.8 billion, the total revenue reached RMB 6.4 billion, the industrial output value hit RMB 200.6 billion and the percapita GDP exceeded USD 6000. Xiaoshan has been named as "Down Capital of the World","China Plants Park","China Textile Production Base","China Steel Structure Industrial Base" and "China Auto Fittings Production Base".
Xiaoshan has formed an all-directional,multi-level and wide-ranging opening-up pattern, owning State-level Xiaoshan Economic & Technological Development Zone, Qianjiang Century CBD, Xianghu Tourism Holiday Resort,High-tech industrial Park and so on.Attracted by its nice investment environment,over 1300 foreign-funded enterprises from more than 40 countries and regions have settled down in Xiaoshan,including GE from America, ltochu, Marubeni, Toyota Tshsho, Sojitz, Yamaha, Kao from Japan, SK from Korea, Ericsson from Sweden,etc.
Xiaoshan enjoys favorable location and convenient transportation in water, land and air.Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport has established joint operation with Airport Authority HongKong. It has opened international routes to HongKong China, Macao China, Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore ,Tokyo and Osaka, etc... ShanghaiHangzhou magnetic levitation train has been approved by the authority. The ongoing projects of Hangzhou-Shanghai Second Expressway, ten bridges over Qiantang River, tunnel across Qiantang River as well as the subway are being sped-up, which will lead to a strong "the same city effect" for linking Xiaoshan and HongKong, Shanghai, Hangzhou.
Xiaoshan also has rich tourism resources. The tidal bore of the Qiantang River is one of the wonders of nature. China International(Xiaoshan) Qianjiang Tidal Bore Festival every year attracts thousands of tourists from home and abroad. Xianghu Lake within the confines of Xiaoshan enjoys beautiful scenery and is named as the "sister lake" of the West Lake. '2006 World Leisure Expo is held in Xiaoshan from Apr.22nd to Oct. 22nd, 2006.
For its beautiful environment, convenient transportation and broad prospects, Xiaoshan is becoming a nice destination of investment in Yangze River Delta,keeping to the spirit of "being brave in the competition and to be the best".

On September 12 1995, Xianghu Tourist Holiday Resort is approved by Zhejiang Government. It locates 2.5 kilometers west to Xiaoshan and 13 kilometers to West Lake with an area of 9.98 square kilometers.
Xianghu Lake has very nice scene with a long history. There are quite a lot of heritage sites, scenic spots, gardens, lakes and views. Goujian, a king of ancient Yue Kingdom situated in Zhejiang, fought with Wu Kingdom here. The battle left some heritage sites near the Xianhu Lake, named Yue King’s Platform, Horse-bath Pond etc, Furthermore, a group of Hen Dynasty tombs and cultural traces of the New Stone Age were discovered in the recent years. Since Song Dynasty, the top 8 views of Xianghu Lake has attracted countless writers, poets and heroes, such as He Zhizhang, a famous poet; Ge Yunfei, a national hero; Cai Dongpan, a well-known novelist. “Xianghu Water Shield” “Xiaoshan Lace” and “Southern Song Dynasty Imperial Kiln” are the most treasured products produced here.
Xianghu Tourist Holiday Resort is one of major projects in “The 9th 5 Years Zhejiang Tourism Development Plan” and “2010 Long-term Program”. Therefore, a bright future is ahead.

湘湖旅游度假区的湘湖概况
