这是日本天后滨崎步的第13张原创专辑《Party Queen》2011年在三一一震后，滨崎步的新作品发行趋缓，整年度的新作品仅有五首歌曲的迷你专辑《FIVE》，且异于往常地无发行任何一张单曲作品。在2012年初，滨崎步宣布离婚的消息。 滨崎步在官方后援会的日记当中写道，由于事业的缘故与前夫分隔两地，聚少离多，这是导致她决定结束这段为期一年的婚姻的主因。 离婚后，她仍继续歌唱事业。2月份，滨崎步宣布了新专辑的录制即将告一段落，专辑定名为《Party Queen》。对于这个第一印象即是放肆作乐的专辑名称，她却说专辑并不是如同所有人想像的那样，狂欢和性感，这样的概念甚至与她更深一层的想法是完全相左的。她认为“派对”是她对整个社会的印象，并不是由于她喜欢参与派对活动。在Twitter上她亦对专辑封面选图做了完全不同于标题名称的解释：因为封面上的她“看起来非常哀痛”，所以才挑选这些照片作为封面。她不是“party queen”而是“lonely queen”（孤独的女王），她渴望她永远得不到的“自由”，永远不会在她身上发生的自由，她还是那个被关在《Duty》牢笼里的人。“派对”是“孤独的女王”为了隐藏自己伤口所创造的欢腾热闹，这不是一张如同表面一般欢快的专辑。专辑设定的另外一个主题则显现了滨崎步对于同性恋、种族议题、身心障碍歧视以及性别平等的观点。她在〈how beautiful you are〉中呈现了她的想法，便是无论性别、国籍，所有人与人之间都有爱与被爱的平等权利；无论有缺陷、有不完美，所有人都是最美丽的。
